SUMMARY

The character, whom he introduces as his “friend,” exhorts the reader in the FIRST stanza to put down the books since they drag one down. After that, he exhorts the reader to be positive and let go of all their “problems.”

The sun in particular is beautifully described in this SECOND stanza of poetry. The protagonist describes how beautiful the sunset is as it stretches over the green fields from the top of the mountain.

The THIRD stanza stands out sharply from the first. As opposed to the beauty of nature, books are what he calls as ‘boring’. He once more implores the reader to let go of them and appreciate the melody of a linnet, a species of bird, because he believes that it contains far more wisdom than books.

The FOURTH  stanza builds on the feelings expressed in the preceding one. In contrast to books, the song of the birds is not “mean” preaching. As a result, he urges the readers to learn from nature since it is a far superior teacher.

In the FIFTH Stanza , the reader, or people, are the beneficiaries of the rich universe that “She,” or nature, has to provide. After all, nature and its joy may teach us truth and wisdom with ease.

The idea that nature is a teacher is emphasised once more in the SIXTH stanza. The character claims that a forest can teach morality and ethics more effectively than sages, who are revered as the pinnacle of knowledge.

In the SEVENTH Stanza the persona claims that the lovely gifts of nature are ruined because we kill its beauty in the process of pursuing academic intellect.

The persona adopts an authoritative tone in the EIGHTH  stanza , urging the audience to put an end to their pursuit of science and the arts because the books’ pages are nothing more than “barren leaves.” Thus, he exhorts the reader to approach nature with an open mind and an eagerness to observe, listen to, and learn from it
